New receivers anytime soon??

Hey,

I have been away from my search for a new receiver for a few months, and thought i'd ask if anything new is due anytime soon?? I had pretty much decided on the Pioneer 1018, as my decision was between the 663 and 1018. The 1018 seems like a steal from newegg at 430 bucks! I looked around, but didn't find anything on a new line from yamaha or pioneer...If its not till next year, i will probably go ahead and pick up a 1018, but if something is coming soon, i might as well wait! Thanks

The only new thing to really worry about is if the receiver is HDMI 1.3. I don't think there would be too many left that are not compliant.
Apart from that it comes down to the other essentials. Power, functionality, features, and asthetic's. These things will never change.
The other thing to research is any HDMI handshake issues with the components your interested in.

well i dont know about anything new but take a look at the HK 254 they fixed the bug issues on that and instead of the 663 get a 6160 its cheaper with the same specs. dont go pioneer, owned the 9130txh, was an awful receiver. try the hk 354 owned it for 3 weeks was a solid receiver. just giving you headsup with the pioneer, lag issues have been reported with the ps3 and Bluray menus, i dont know why the menus but i guess its an issue between the ps3 and the receiver


actually the 663 is the exact same thing as the 6160, beside a few cosmetic things, but the 6160 is way cheaper

AND IF YOU ARE WILLING TO WAIT WAIT TILL BOXING DAY ALL THE STORES HAVE SALES AROUND THOSE DAYS, AFTER CHRISTMAS IS PROBABLY A GOOD BET IF YOU CAN WAIT

well i guess that shows how long i have been gone...as i have yet to hear of the 1018 problems

I have owned an old pioneer cheapy model, and then a yamaha rx-v659. I loved the 659 but sold it for more than i bought it for, so figured i would upgrade to something with HDMI. I will just have to see how things work out.

Do you have any references to the issues with the 1018? i wouldn't mind reading up on that.

I'm not really looking for suggestions of new receivers, such as denon or HK. Was really just looking for any new product lineups coming up anytime soon, but i do appreciate the heads up!

edit: 850 is way outta my price range anyway...~400 max, big guy!!
