Hi folks,
I have been using a Benq Ht3550 with my trusted Denon AVR4100w (5 years old I believe). It does allow scaling to 4k. But no HDR.
We upgraded to Telus Optik TV (Canadian no judgment please) and this device has 4k output - but when I select it, it diverts back to 1080p. I have seen the box flash HDCP problem.
The 25ft HDMI I run to the Projector is Optic, but not sure if it has the bandwidth required.
Overall picture quality now is good, as the Denon outputs 4k, but would like our Telus box to output native 4k. And I think my picture will pop a little more with HDR.
So I have been watching Videos, on a new receiver replacement. I am thinking of the possible switch to the new Onkyo RZ50/Pioneer Elite VSXlx505. And a new 25ft HDMI cable with 2.1 specs.
Pros - would be the Dirac / no HDMI issues (crossing my fingers). More HDMI inputs for the future. HDR10 and maybe an additional 2 atmos.
Con;s - I like the Scallers built into Denon/Marantz - but don't know if I would need this anymore. The Denon loyalty (things just work and generally sound good) - however, I do wish the vocal content was a touch clearer at times. Having said that I don't know if the HDMI chips are still problematic with Xbox/PS platforms. 3rd option was the Denon AVR3700.
