New receiver recommendations - ~$1000 budget

I'm in the process of starting to look for a new receiver for my living room setup. The setup consists of Polk Monitor 70s (fronts), CS2 (center), Monitor 50s (rear), Dayton SUB-120 (sub), and I also have another set of Monitor 50s that I've been debating about throwing in to make a 7.1 setup. My current receiver is a Denon AVR-787.

My next receiver I want to make as future proof as I can, so I'm trying to keep that in mind. I will need HDMI 1.4a support because I recently purchased a Panasonic VT25 TV that has 3D capabilities (which I don't really use).

Some options I have been looking at:
-Onkyo TX-NR808
-Yamaha RX-V3900 - Refurbished (No HDMI 1.4a though, but hear great things about the receiver)
-Marantz SR6005

What are your recommendations?

You might want to keep an eye on Accessories For Less for factory Refurbished Onkyo 708s and 808s for cheap. You may also want to keep an eye on Amazon because several times they've had one day sales Onkyo TX-NR1008 receivers.

The Onkyo TX-NR1008 is also within my price range. Is there a major difference between the 1008 and the 808?

Looks as though 6thAVE has the best price on the TX-NR1008 as well. Has all the features you want. Nothing wrong with an Onkyo.

I would definately pick the Yamaha RX-V3900 over the others in this price range. the HDMI1.4 is there just to support a bad gimmick IHO and should not be a factor in deciding on a quality receiver.

The 808 is 7.2 and the 1008 is 9.2. Most people have no need for the extra 2 channels but if you happen to catch it on sale for the same price as an 808 (~$800-900) then it may be worth while - it's been that cheap at Amazon for a couple of hours a couple of times in the last couple of months. Otherwise I'm not so it's worth the extra money. I just mentioned it so you could keep an eye open for sales.

Edit it looks like both the 808 and the 1008 are cheap (on sale?) at Amazon.

Yeah, I have no need for 9.2. Is that the only major difference between the two?

A little more than what I'm wanting to really spend, but looks like a great choice. If I decide to spend a little more money, I'll consider it

Amazon has the price beat by $300+
How about the AVR-4310 for under 1K. You get 6 HDMI inputs, Audyssey MultiEQXT, ABT VRS video processor, Burr Brown DAC, plus plenty of power.

Only downside I see is no HDMI 1.4a. But I will definitely consider this one.

Not when I posted. Sometimes these sales are gone before you know it. I actually found the 6thave price while looking at Amazon.

On Amazon, there is a box on the bottom right that list how many sellers have the item available. I just clicked on "these sellers", and then looked for the best price.

I prefer Yamaha products(own a Z7:D), but it is hard to argue bang for the buck with Onkyo.
