New Receiver - preouts

I recently picked up a used Parasound 2 channel amp and need/want to integrate this into one of my systems. I plan to do so with a pair or Focal Aria bookshelves and a pair of 10” subs for use in one of my rooms. It will be for stereo and streaming Hulu, Netflix etc...
the current receiver is a bottom of the line newer Denon but will repurpose this to a vacation home. So I will have a hole in this system.

I am leaning toward a Marantz Thinline either used on eBay or else a refurbished from Accessories for less. Just really contemplating my budget I would say around $350- $550. I would like Bluetooth integrated to the receiver if possible.

Am I overlooking any obvious better options?

Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I guess it depends on if you need a receiver or not and how many sources you really need into this. The Marantz thinline do have L/R and Sub line level pre-amp output so that you can hook all this up no problem with your new Parasound 2 amp and your two subs and the receiver is just acting as a DAC and maybe any processing you apply (if any). Lots of these already have bluetooth. They're just spendy ($650ish). But that will do exactly what you're wanting to do.

Some alternatives would be a standalone DAC and pre-amp setup and use a bluetooth dongle to add wireless to this. Example is something inexpensive like the Emotiva PT-100. And just get a bluetooth receiver and hook it up to one of the inputs and you're set, for half the price.

Very best,

Thanks for the suggestion. I should have clarified I do want hdmi switching and do prefer some controls on subwoofer integration, the auto calibration systems in my mind are a plus.

Depends what you need....few have the form factor of the slimlines in any case, but if you don't need latest greatest a used avr can be a good value....

So I picked up a used Marantz NR1609...not bad for $350. Got my parasound 2x75 watt amp for $120. So I have to connect via RCA...it sounds like a silly question but what is a bang for the buck cable to use. I have a bunch of nice quality RCA style cables but most are long and also to rigid to hide in the location I will be installing. I need a 2-3 foot decent cable. My concern is many I see out there are thick cable and look rigid. I want a decent quality but very flexible so I can hide it and get the receiver as far back on the shelf as possible. Will a cheap standard red and white connector be fine with such a short run?

If the rca cable works well, it's fine. Many excellent cables don't cost much. Try monoprice.com or amazon basics or mediabridge or the ones you got free with some gear....
