New Receiver? Marantz, Denon, Other?

I recently purchased a new set of Mirage OMD 15 fronts, OMD-5 surrounds and and an OMDC1 center. I would like to purchase a separate power amp for these. I am strongly considering the Emotiva XPA-5. My next step is to replace my Denon 3806 for the following reasons:

Does not have Dolby HD and other processing decoding modes
Does not have a second sub pre-out
Lacks HDMI input ports

The Denon 3806 still sounds great but with these new speakers it is lacking a little power.

I have been doing some research and it appears if I want to buy just a processor; it is double the price if I just purchase a mid to high level receiver.

I have been looking at the Marantz SR 6005 and the Denon 3311. I would entertain lower level Denon models but they do not have pre-outs for a separate amp.

Basically I would just like to know if anyone has opinions of the best route to go for a processor or receiver to add to the XPA-5. I am looking to spend $600-$800.

Much appreciated.

Denon with EMO

Go with the Denon AVR-3312CI ($879 Delv'd), plus an EMO XPA-5 ($799 Delv'd) or ask EMO if they have any "B" Stock.

The other way to go is just get the Denon AVR-4311CI ($1499 Delv'd), and Call it a day, as it has Audyssey MultEQ XT32 that will do both subs EQ, and 140W/Ch. with 9 Channels, and expandable to a full 11.2 -- The SQ of the 4311 is "Pure Audio Construction" and better than the 33XX series as I own both of them. With the 4311CI you should not need an external amp unless your room is Large and your speakers inefficient, but like the 33XX it also has preouts if you want to add an external amp in a year or two.

Either way you will be very happy -- if your only going up to 5.1(.2) and want the Extra KICK and Headroom in Power, then go the 3311/12 route w/ the EMO XPA-5, and it will Rock 'Em out with some serious and clean Power.

Call Electronics-Expo and talk to Mario in Sales, and have him give you his best Price for 3311, 3312, and 4311. That will be a better price than Amazon will give you -- been there, done that one.

Denon 3311 for $530 from Amazon:

You know this price will not last long, so you better jump on it fast!:D

Amazon has 3 of these units.
I just jumped on this unit. Great price, so I hope it comes through. When doing a search for Denon AVR on Amazon this price was not in the displayed list of items so I went back and clicked the link in the previous post and placed the order. I just got the email saying the order will ship tomorrow so my fingers are crossed!

Enjoy, you are the second member today that has purchased this AVR. What a good deal on Good AVR.. 1/2 the retail price and warranty. These won't last long. ADTGuy found a killer deal on the unit today and was nice enough to pass it on. Wish I had seen one like this last month when I was looking for replacement HD AVR. Oh well I am happy with my Yamaha.

When you buy DIRECTLY from amazon like that, you have absolutely nothing to fear.

If it is not 100% EXACTLY like the way it is described (LOOKS BRAND NEW, WORKS BRAND NEW), you can print out the UPS pre-paid label and take it to UPS and get a 100% refund including your original shipping cost.

I've have bought so many things from amazon - electronics, computers, household, you name it. I've bought projectors, AVRs, etc. and everything else. I even have Amazon PRIME membership.:D

I don't even mind paying the extra $$ just to get it directly from amazon, instead of 3rd party.
