New receiver has no output through tweeters.

I have had my HK 3480 stereo receiver for a couple weeks and it has been great. Today I noticed music was not as loud and no sound from the tweeters it sounded as if the woofers were handling all of the highs. I have an older but good set of PSB 40 MKII's that have been wonderful and thought I may have blown their tweeters.

I decided to hook up my old AR's and have the same problem, could it be my receiver? I also have a Dayton 15" Titanic sub and ADS e.q. which I turned off and unhooked just to be sure and the problem is still there. I frequently listen to my music loud but I have never had this happen. Any ideas? I appreciate any help given.

*Edit: Turns out that both sets of speakers were blown, I would never have believed it. Too much power from the HK I guess.
Well I have a set of Onix XL-S and Ascend CBM-170 SE heading my way to audition so 1 will be a keeper I hope.

First question, you say the tweeters are making absolutely no sound what-so-ever? When the receiver is on do the tweeter emit a very quiet hiss?

Second question: are the speakers bi-wirable. If they are be sure the bridge between the binding posts are still there.

The most unlikely sceniaro, maybe someone is playing a prank on you and took the speakers apart and disconnected the tweeters, with the hopes of angering you of trying to persuade you to buy new speakers.:D

to test the tweeters to be sure they aren't damaged try disconnecting them from the speaker and test them seperate maybe with another receiver, amp or miny system, Whatever you have access to you can use to test them.

As far as my ears can tell putting them almost directly over the tweeters I don't get even a hiss. The speakers are not bi-wireable either. Neither set of speakers have sound from the tweeters but I will try and test the PSB tweeters separately as you suggested.

If someone did disconnect my tweeters as a joke you can be sure no Christmas presents for them. :)

Thanks in advance for the reply.

I was just thinking that, darn kids, always playing with the stereo. I find it unlikely that both sets of speakers would have blown tweeters. Maybe this is a sign.:)
