New Receiver for my SVS Sub and B&W 602's?

I have an old Onkyo TX-SV444 (1996-prologic with multichannel) driving my B&W fronts and centre and in-wall surrounds. Just bought the SVS PB-10 which sounds great for movies but with music/radio seems to pick up people talking etc. My Onkyo has no way to set a crossover and neither does the sub. Have a Panasonic Viera 42" and Toshiba SD-3109 DVD

Bottom line is I would like to upgrade the receiver to take advantage of the subs capabilities (have had the B&W's since I got the Onkyo but happy with the sound). I am going to install speakers in my back yard (suggestions?) and would like to be able to run music out back and movies inside for the kids. Is this possible with receivers?

Budget is in the $1000 range. Would apprciate make/model suggestions? Can you get a good deal online? Is it worth buying used? If so where do you get it?

Thanks

You can run "dual zone" meaning play music outside and watch a movie inside using the same receiver. And you can do it for much less than $1,000. Yamaha, Denon, H/K, Onkyo, Pioneer all have models that will do what you want. I can't recommend any specific model because dual zone wasn't a need for me. I do know the newer H/K's will let you set different crossover levels for each speaker - which I think would be handy if you are trying to blend an un-matched 5.1 setup.

Point is you should have plenty to choose from - both used and new. I prefer slightly used or at least the closouts at your local A/V store.

I have narrowed it down to the Yamaha HTR-5890 or Pioneer VSX-1015. Is the Marantz comparable/better than these choices? Not doubting you just am ignorant?

Anyone?
