So, I love this Onkyo NR-906. It's a beast and does everything I want... EXCEPT the most important thing!

Last night it happened for the first time. The woman wanted to watch TV in the bedroom while I played a 360 game. Everything is hooked up through HDMI, and I use HDMIMain and HDMISub to switch which room we watch in.

Since it can't output both HDMIs with independent sources, I of course also wanted to watch TV...

I see some receivers that have Zone 2 output through Component video, which I think would be perfectly fine. I want some input on which receiver will equal the NR906 in audio quality and video processing quality (I like upscaling SDTV and PS2).

I would love it if there was a receiver that had two HDMI outs that could output different sources simultaneously. For example, HDMI to my living room plasma for 360 and HDMI for bedroom LCD for cable box.

I will follow that up with selling my NR-906 to some lucky person for a good price. =\

Any ideas? I'm not looking to break the bank, and I'll have to keep it from her. DISCUSS!

I do not know of any receiver that can do what you are asking.

How about a second cable box? Remember that the only benefit of running cable box thru receiver is convenience, and even that is quite arguable if one has a universal remote in possession. Or just an HDMI switcher if only for the single cable box, if you don't want the second stb?

End result should be any of my components working in the bedroom while another component is working in the living room.

Like, 360 in bedroom while woman uses living room for cable, vice versa, etc.

A receiver that does component for Zone 2 would be fine too, and I saw a few of those.

I thought the RX-Z7 could output component thru zone 2.
Not sure, but I'd put that up against the 906 any day.

Strongly considering both units. The Yammy more. It looks great, but I have to see how much it will run me.

The 3808 would defly be cheaper for me. Hmm...

The Z7 is a great receiver, but way beyond my needs and budget. The biggest thing it has over the 3808 is it's video processing. If that is not an issue the 3808 is the better deal.

As long as the 3808 can power my speakers, I might go that route. I can't believe my 906 doesn't have Zone 2 component out...

The 3808 has inferior video processing to the 906, and an inferior amp section, which are the 2 priorities you mentioned. You are going to have to spend a lot more to get everything the 906 has plus sending 2 independent video sources at the same time.

Life is a progression of choices and compromise.

The only thing that I'm noticing is that you said you were running HDMI in? If that's the case I don't think there is any receiver out there that will down convert it to Component, I don't think it's possible with HDMI. So you'll need one that has 2 independent HDMI outs. Money makes the world go round.

If none of the receivers can do that, I just won't bother. I'll have to always want to do what the woman wants to do... *sigh*

Maybe this Z7 review will inform me. If it can do it, it'll be my next choice. Unless the Denon 3808 can in fact do that.
