I have an Accurian 6.1 A/V Receiver. I have hooked it up and have two known problems. One is that the remote doesn't work. Is there any way to reset it to see if it is the remote or the sensor on the reciever? If I can fix the remote, then I will wait to exchange the product. If not, then I am gonna exchange it at my Radio Shack.

Did it work previously but stop? Or did it come out of the box not working?

Have you checked the batteries? (Its simple, but you have to start somewhere.)

If so, are there any LED's on the remote? Do they come on when you push buttons?

Can radioshack exchange just the remote to see if thats the problem? or do they have to exchange the whole thing?

It didn't work from the start.

I did change the batteries.

There is a light on the remote that says it is doing something, but I am really hoping that it is just sending the wrong signal or something cause it was a pain to hook the receiver up and I don't wanna unhook it if I can avoid it (call me lazy).

I am gonna try to put a universal remote to the receiver and change the volume. If it works then at least I know it is the remote, if it doesn't I really haven't gained any ground.

Oops, and I can exchange just the remote, but the item is on clearance so I have to find a store that carries it.

Since you have lights the batteries are probably good. Just curious, is this one of those remotes that can control multiple devices. If so make sure you have it set on the receiver. I know the DishNetwork remote has multipel litgths to control multpiple devices and it the wrong one is selected nothing happens. If you have already tried this then sorry and hope you can find a replacement. Radio Shack is usually pretty good about contacting other stores.

Take Care.

If you have a camera on your cell phone, turn it on and view the emitters on the remote through the camera and press some buttons. If you see bright flashes, the remote it transmitting. If not, it isn't. I've seen a few bad remotes over the years but not many. Go closer to the receiver and see if it works. If it does, it may just need different batteries. If you don't have a camera in your cell phone, any digital camera or camcorder will work.

Tried the camera phone thing...

It showed me that the remote is fully functional (and then I did it to other remotes cause I thought it was a neat trick, small things amuse small minds I guess, lol). Thanks for the info.

It actually is the remote that came with the receiver, not a universal at all. So I guess I am returning the receiver to Radio Shack. Hopefully they can find me another or send this one out for repairs. Thanks for all your help.

:)
