alright i know that im probably violating everything im supposed to not do before i make a post in this section but i have some questions about some gear that i should buy...

alright.. off the bat ill say that i work at future shop .. up in canada and if i order direct from companies.. i get a pretty sick discount.. like almost fifty percent off of things that we carry. I am looking at a new reciever and speakers. I realise that this is the Reciever section but i figured id be better off putting it all together, if you'd like to respond to solely the reciever part or none at all feel free to do so.

I would also like to say that i probably would use it for about 65% movies and 35% music

I have been lookin around a bit and i have noticed that you are supposed to pick speakers first then reciever/source second. I can either order direct from Athena or Polk or Bose but i talk about bose more later so ill leave that alone.
I do like polk for whatever reason and am able to choose from pretty much their entire line of speakers.. except i believe the PSW 1000. And would like to keep the speaker purchase to under 2000$ and id like to go 5.1...obviously? i dunno i really dont know what speakers that i was lookin at in that line.. but a good setup that would really give me the best bang for my buck, i would go with the LSi line but i dont know if its worth it.

With athena i know nothing about, so i am really really open to what you have to say.

I need to purchase a new reciever.. and i was looking at the
Yamaha HTR-5990 pretty much solely because it has HDMI and from what i've read everywhere thats pretty important.. but i was wondering about this new HDMI 1.3? if i were to buy this reciever would it be useless in years not too far off?.. this is the highest yamaha reciever that we carry and it seems to have pretty much all the features i THINK i would want.. what are the differences between the HTR line and the other lines like the RX lines. Any major differences that i would need to look into that would be worth the major extra dollars since my discount is useless with those lines.. I would like to in the future be able to hook up systems in other rooms of my house as well.
I was trying to keep the price of the reciever below 1000$. The 5990 is 675 plus taxes. Yamaha is the only company that i am able to order direct from.. the others will all be just my normal discount of cost plus 10% so also not bad.. future shop carries HK, Pioneer and JVC recievers as well.

Another option that i was looking at for a reciever/entire sound package was some of the bose lifestyle systems... i can get all bose for 50% off. I was wondering what your guy's thoughts were on some of those systems with the lil cube speakers and "acoustimass module". I also see that it is quite easy to hook up systems in other rooms with bose. Are they worth the money. because i've had them demo'd to me and i was pretty impressed.. but i am also easily impressed so i was lookin for a few other oppions. Also if the whole system is not the way to go with the reciever/dvd harddrive storage system.. possibly it would be ok for me to just go with one of the speaker packages using another type of reciever.. or buy some 201, 301 or even 901s? I do like bose, and was wondering if everyone else did as well..

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. sorry if i didnt use the proper edicate or put things in the right places.. feel free to correct me.

 {ducks and runs for cover} Look out, here comes the avalanche! Seriously, do a search on Bose & you will see what the local populace thinks of it. :D

Since you work there, you can probably spend a whole lot of time listening to the speakers available, so do so & pick the ones you like best. I liked the Polk RTi speakers pretty well when I was auditioning. Once you've picked your speakers, you can build up the rest of the system arurnd that.
