Has anyone been able to look at Fujistu's new Plasma the 40 series with AVM-II processing? The 50" was hailed as the best plasma if you haven't seen it, you need to take a look, because the new one's processing drastically improves DVDs and SD television. Worth the investment, plus hit half brightness at about 25 years, and still watchable at 50, comments??

Not sure where that info came from... Specs on it look similar to a lot of other plasmas including Panasonics last generation.

The new Panasonics look like they cost less (thousands) and provide more color depth (over three times!) with the same contrast ratio.

Not knocking fujitsu, but would definitely want to see what makes them better, as on paper they look overpriced.

I've seen both Fujitsu and Panasonic. I'd have to go with the Fujitsu, just looks cleaner to me.

Im going to get a 50'' Fujitsu HDTV Plasma very soon from an accomodation from a Fujitsu Rep via Best Buy.

7999.99 for the TV. I'll get it for ... ~4,600 :D

Just because

Just because the paper looks the same doesn't mean the implementation is the same, for example you can take an audio DAC that is 192/24bit from several different manufactures and they will each have different sounds. I've seen the fujitsu against the pioneer elite and the panasonic, HD they are rather comparable some artifacts, but SD and DVD is where the Fujitsu really shines as I say the new Fujitsu really does kick some major plasma ***.

The Fujitsu 50" and the 42" ED Displays use Panasonic Glass (PDP). ;) :)

I imagine for the $2,000.00 more you pay for the Fujitsu it probably has one heck of a scaler inside of it to make SDTV look better. I would also think that you could get a outboard PFP scaler for somewhere in the $2,000.00 range these days that would make your non-HD sources look awesome.

Anyway - it would still be nice to see the newest Pansonic side-by-side with the Fujitsu's. It looks like Panasonic is not giving their newest stuff away right away and really should be looked at head to head with other companies.

I was in a Circuit City the other day and was amazed at how well EVERY plasma & lcd display looked. Most of the time I am disappointed, but it seems like they might of had a better setup techie in house tweaking their displays. The Pansonic was a definite stand out in the 42" range for EDTV. At 10 feet it was indistinguishable from the much more expensive models around it.

Top notch stuff these days from a lot of manufacturers.
