New Pioneer receiver- configuration/setup questions

I posted another thread about my new speakers and system over in the loudspeaker forum, just giving my initial impressions and thanking those that helped me. Feel free to check it out if you're interested. But now I need to ask a couple of small setup questions about the receiver, as I have a couple of minor wrinkles to iron out.

First, I have the following components...

-Paradigm Atoms v.6
-Pioneer VSX-819
-Sony DVD player
-XBox 360/Wii
-Cable Box & Tivo
-Airport Express

My questions...

1. I'm not sure if the remote that came with my receiver can be programmed to control my TV and DVD player. I could have sworn I read something about it being able to do this before I bought it, but in a quick skim of the user manual last night I didn't find anything. Anyone know if it should be able to do this for this specific receiver/remote?

2. Both my Wii and Non-HDTivo connect to the receiver over composite, and so I have a single composite video cable running from the receiver to the TV. I had been told that a single composite connection to the TV would suffice for both devices, which seems to make sense. When I watch TV (TiVo over composite) it works fine, I get audio and video from TiVo. But, when I try to use the Wii, I can see it's video, but I am still hearing the audio from the TV broadcast over TiVo. Any ideas why this might be happening?

I have been having some trouble downloading the user manual this morning while at work, but finally got this done. As for quesion #1 above, I found the section of the manual that discusses this, and will attempt to program the remote tonight. As for question #2 above, I would still appreciate any feedback you have.

What is your TV (make and model)?

* Composite connections is the very worst.

1. And yes, you can program your remote for your other components, as you finally found out in yur manual.

2. Perhaps you have to assign your Wii to the right input from your rerceiver menu settings (audio & video). As composite video and whatever connection you are using for audio. So, if you check in your Pioneer receiver's manual, you'll find a section addressing the assigment (audio & video) as per input, to which your Wii is connected to.

Well I got my remote programmed to control the tv last night, but no such luck with my Sony DVD player. I got it in 1998, it was Sony's 2nd gen player I believe. In any case I am guessing it is too old. Oh well.

So have any of you had any brilliant thoughts on why I'm having trouble with audio over composite? See my question #2 above for the details.

So just in case someone stumbles across this same problem with seeing video from one composite source (such as Wii) but only hears audio from a secondary composite source (such as TiVo), I figured it out, and it was pretty easy.

My remote has all the buttons for the various inputs (BD/DVD, TV/Sat, DVR, etc.), and there is an additional button called input select. So while I was viewing the video from my Wii, I pressed it, and then heard the correct audio feed. I switched back and forth a few times and it seems to be remembering which audio source to pair with which video source. It now makes sense that with multiple signals present over the same connection that pressing this button would be needed to indicate the correct source.

I hope this helps someone else out there.
