That's a good question. I have a pair of the old Atoms, but I'd like to hear these new 7s _ if my local dealer is still carrying Paradigm. I like the idea of towers.

I talked to my local Paradigm dealer and they are rethinking their dealership with paradigm.because of this extreme change in design.
They're questioning carrying Paradigm because they changed the design? That's bizarre, and makes no sense unless there's something else going on.

But I do like the new design. I saw them a few weeks ago in Sound and Vision

what are the thoughts here on the complete makeover on the new Series 7 Monitor series ?

I would have thought this series gets back to the more elegant looking Monitors from Series 1-4. Series 5-6 seemed to be more of a radical departure than any of the others.

Who is your dealer since we live in the same area ? I'm looking for a good place to demo Paradigm in the Sac area. Performance Audio in SF was my old dealer. But haven't been there in a many years.

the only Paradigm dealer in my area is Paradyme, they have 2 locations here, and they don't have any of the monitor series 7 on display or even in stock !

I bought all of my speakers from them except for the subs.

btw,where do you live ?

Vacaville. Thanks. Wasn't sure if they where the only one. I would love to take my v.1 mini monitors in and try them out against the series 7 when they come out. It would be interesting to see how much they differ.

that's funny because i was just on the phone with bryan from Paradyme yesterday afternoon and he didn't mention anything about straying away from the paradigm line. who did you speak with?! i mean, c'mon Paradigm is their flagship brand and they are the only resellers in the entire area (i think)!

he noted that they have NOT demoed the new version 7s yet and didn't note any discounts on the current v6s they have in stock. as of right now i think they have about 4-5 pairs between the two locations on fulton and in roseville. what model(s) and price(s) were you quoted on the mentioned discounted items?

in all honesty and my own opinion, the new versions look way sexier. the v6s look like latex condoms to me for some reason. i know a big change for Paradigm recently was outsourcing some of the work to China versus keeping everything in-house. And even with that the prices increased ~$100 so i am curious what big changes were made. you would think if they are outsourcing and increasing the price that the product is better right?

you have me very curious! i just ordered the v7s from century stereo in san jose. i'm originally from sac but only come up from time to time.

I forget the name of the guy I talked to,but in all fairness I believe he was just talking about the monitor line, and it was IMO just light conversation anyway,so don't get too worried about it.

the discounts were on just a few of the v6 speakers, again, relax, all is well in the Paradigm world.
also, they WILL NOT quote any of the prices I spoke of OVER THE PHONE !
I went in person to the fulton store,

and I can't speak of the new line as I have not heard them, but I am happy with my NON CHINESE "latex condoms" ALL v6 system,

and I really don't buy speakers on "sexiness" anyway !
I could care less how sexy a speaker looks,I have sex with my wife,I listen to speakers.

and in case my wife is looking ,yes ! I listen to you too honey :D

and welcome to the AH boards,
that's quite a first post

Someone brought that up to me when I was looking at speakers to buy, and I could not get that image out of my head. It cost Paradigm a sale :D

But I did like their sound, I just would've had to leave the grilles on :D

plastic baskets on the woofers, steel laminate chokes, only 3/4" thick baffles, that's a bit disappointing.

However they did a great job on grill design and the front baffle from what I see. Looks like overall a lot of engineering was put into this speaker line to produce a high quality budget series of product.

I will get a closer look at these tomorrow at CEDIA and perhaps line up a review.

Hee hee

My local paradigm dealer in the past, told me that "Paradigm makes the best speakers because they have an anechoic chamber and do double blind tests to compare to all the other brands and only theirs come out on top. PSB? No... they don't do the same kind of double blind tests"

:D

I believe their tests are sighted with identical looking speakers voiced differently from on another and the audience is used to rank them in preference.

That'd be great! I'm curious as to how they stack up against other budget lines.

Have listened...

I have listened to the entire new line, and quite honestly, i think that the mini monitors sound the best. The have a surprisingly nice bass response, and mf & hf are quite sharp. The rest of the line is also decent, but the mini's win. Any other questions feel free to ask.

thanks for the quick response and my apologies if my comment came off strong, lol. it wasn't directed at you in any way. i am just eager to find out what big changes were made to the v7s that warrants a $100 increase in light of the fact that they are cutting costs by outsourcing to China.

i totally agree that no one should buy a speaker off of looks. i said this many times to the Paradyme and Century Stereo sales people but i just have this inkling feeling that i will regret picking up the v6s due to their looks. again, one of the worst excuses ever! lol.so with the v7s looking way sexier now, i just hope they perform better then the v6s, especially with the $100 uplift.

I will get a closer look at these tomorrow at CEDIA and perhaps line up a review.
that would be AWESOME! hopefully they have demos for you. all resellers i've gone to have no received a shipment nor put one in. they all want to sell their stock of v6s before bringing in the new line. when i ask them for their review when they were demoed by Paradigm, all they can reference is the Atom.

on a side note, and i don't want this to turn the entire thread discussion, does any have any suggestions on a receiver to pair with the Mini Monitor v7s? for the immediate time, i'll have a 2.1 setup which will grow to 3.1 and then 5.1 as I am able to allocate more funds toward the project.

my price range is somewhere between $300-$600, i suppose, although i would like to stay around or below $500. don't think i should be spending more on the receiver then the actual speakers.

i've been eyeballing the Onkyo TX-609, 709, 809 and praying for a sale. i think i've ruled out the 609 due to the fact it only has Audyssey 2EQ vs MultiEQ. I read somewhere that MultiEQ is VERY important and that 2EQ will not config the sub. Again, i am not familiar with the functions and features offered in receivers nowadays and which ones I should really value. so for right now, the more the better =D

EDIT: would like a receiver with 5.1 PC inputs as it will be primarily used for my computer (music and movies streamed to TV).
