I got a brand new Paradigm cc-390v6 center today for only 399. Its a monster. But after going back and fourth between it and my Polk Csi5, I think I like the Polk better. Maybe Im nuts but to me It seems like it has too much mid range in it. Of course it has 7 drivers in it and is a 3 way compared to my polk which is only 3 drivers and is 2 way. Am I nuts? Is it a sound you have to get used too? I have 7 days to return it if I dont like. Have any of you heard it or think Paradigm has alot of mids. To me the Polks I have sound more crisp. Thoughts anyone? Can someone give me reasons the paradigm is better than the polk other than you dont like polks?

I'll be the first to say it. Speakers are the most subjective part of a system, either you like them or you don't. I love my Monitor 11's and so do most of my friends, they are comparing them to mini systems, while I've heard better but can't justify the cost. When I can upgrade my Surround set-up I'm sure that Digm will be in the top 3 choices.

But you might not like the sound at all. Now on that note, what are you listening to it with? Just the Polk towers? The difference in the two brands could actually be what you don't like. The timber may be far enough off that you can notice it and it's not pleasant to your ears. I say give it a little while and see if you like it. If you can maybe barrow some speakers from the Monitor series and see if that setup sounds better to you.

Only you can tell if you don't like it. Oh... and I love Digms and don't like Polk at all but I'm still telling you that to you and I'm sure others out there Polk's sound better.

Yeah, I believe it is the timbre matching being off from the polks that is what is causing it to sound different to me. I definately liked the monitor 11's when I listened to them but they are out and Im also out of money. I would like to get the front 3 speakers at the same time but dont have the cash to do that. Plus 399 for the paradigm center seemed like a good deal. I could be wrong.
Do any of you believe it is even an upgrade to switch to the paradigms? Another thought I had was to maybe go to the Polk Lsi Series speakers. I wonder if I went that route if the timbre matching would not bother me as bad.

I think you should send back the Paradigm. You would be a moron to ever buy them again. You like what you like who cares what we think. It's your ears.

Again don't waste your money and your time on speakers that don't sound good in your home. It isn't timbre matching. It's the fact that you prefer the polks. Send em back. We all have preferences

If you don’t care for the sound, no big deal. I don’t care for the Paradigm Studios, but liked the Signatures and my in-ceilings, go figure.
