New Panasonic HDTV Monitor and HDMI question

I finally replaced my old, failing Panasonic 32" TV with a Panasonic Tau 34" PureFlat Widescreen HDTV Monitor. I am blown away and have to leave town for three days... :(

It looks amazing...just in case any of you are shopping and not ready for whatever reason to buy a non-CRT TV.

It has an HDMI input and I am wondering if there will be any really noticable difference using a DVD player with an HDMI output. I'm using the DVD player listed in my signature with Belkin component video cables. I'm not anxious to spend any more money, but will consider something in a few months if it will really make the best use of this TV.

Thanks for any advice!

Congratulations on your new set, I got my in-laws to purchase that TV and it truely has an amazing picture. Lets hope CRT's don't die off completely.

I doubt you will see any difference. Some with fixed pixel displays claim their upconverting DVD players that use the digital video outputs improve picture quality. Most likely their DVD player is doing a better job of rescaling the image to the monitors native resolution than the monitor itself. I'd sit tight until the new HD formats are available and just enjoy what you have for now.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice on the HDMI vs component video cables. It looks really good as is and I haven't even started tweaking it. I had to leave for 3 days of computer work at a law office 200 miles away. It will help take the sting out of buying it. Monday won't come soon enough...
