Im using a sony 935 for mine...certainly not top notch but the sound is good enough for the aux. system/tv theater.

Your room is a tad bigger than mine so the X-sub might not be enough...maybe one of the midsize Hsu?

How do you like the X-CS as front speakers?

I really like them. Once I get a good receiver I will be able to push them a little harder and get a better idea. Right now, HT is jaw dropping with this setup (all the Onix stuff, not the sub I am using). Music is where I need more power. All the reviews of the receiver I am using say that it sucks for music - especially bass.

Overall, I am very impressed with the onix stuff. The X-CS are fantastic as mains!

I was thinking about doing two HSU VTF-2's? What do you guys think? Any wow factor there?

Have you compared the X-CS to another speaker? Can you you give some comparative impressions? I'd really appreciate it.

Speaker setup.

All of your bookshelf speakers have a larger woofer than your HTIB sub. That is just wrong!
Consider tossing the HTIB sub and setting your mains to Large to hold you over until the sub purchase.

Depending on when you purchased the X-series speakers, you might be able to get $100 off of their new 15" ported sub if you are willing to wait.

I have two of the 15s on order, but that might be overkill for your room.

I am glad you like your new gear, I really fell in love with the X-CS while waiting for my F. red X-LS to come in.

Nice screenname and setup. It is nice to see AV123 making good on their mission to provide affordable high quality audio.

My comparison will make you laugh, but no less, it's a comparison.

My Previous setup was similar to this (only the older model that didn't come with a receiver and dvd player)

Good for a chuckle?

The X Series speakers sound God-like compared to what I am used to. Even with a so-so receiver and modest power.

Because of the 20% off deal HSU is offering, I am thinking of doing 2 - STF-2's. What do you guys think of that combo?

The Sony 5 1/4" sub doesn't do all that bad at modest SPL levels. When you really crank the system it gets flabby though.

If you can afford it, go for a pair of a 12" Hsu subs. They will offer much more extention. In this case, two is better than one. SVS also has good offerings. And of course there is always the DIY method. Last time I checked, Crutchfield was selling Infinity Kappa 12" subs for $180/pr shipped. Those drivers, coupled with proper amplification, a strong box, and a true stereo implementation would yield a powerful and accurate subwoofer setup.

Fronts are too close together and too close to the screen. I'd pull them about 6"-1 ft in front of the screen and pull them further apart (when the X-mas tree is gone). I'd probably go with 1 STF-3 and put the rest of that money towards a receiver upgrade.

Agreed on the placement tips!! Such a huge part of imaging and soundstage
