Went and saw "New Moon" with my wife.

I have one word: BORING!

OMG. How boring can a movie be? How can this movie make that much money?

Sorry, but you should have known better.

It made that much money for the same reason as Titanic: chicks.

Well, according to my wife, this movie was supposed to be a little slow because there isn't a whole lot of action in this book, it's mostly about building a relationship between Jacob and Bella. It's supposed to pick up and have more action in the next book though.

That being said, I have not read the books, and I didn't think it was too bad. Sure it doesn't have a lot of action, but I don't need a lot of action to be entertained (though it does help). Maybe I may read the books after all is done with the movies just to see what more went on, but at this point I don't want to spoil the moveis by reading the books.

Anyways....I'm not a super fan, but I enjoyed it, and think that they did much better than the first movie.

Sorry you had to suffer through that crap... my girlfriend is dying to see it, but I could care less about it... I had to watch Twilight with her, but at least it was on blu. Don't think I'll be renting the second one.

Yeah, the movie stadium was full - about 75% chicks and 25% guys.:D

I don't mind some lack of action as long as the story is compelling or a little interesting.

But this movie had absolutely nothing for me.

Even the werewolves looked like giant cartoon wolves- totally lame beyond belief.

Why couldn't they do the werewolves from "Underworld" or "American Werewolf in Paris"?

I mean if they can't do special effects or action, at leat have an interesting story. At least.

You're kidding right? I'll give you Underworld, the werewolves were pretty good there. But the werewolf in An American Werewolf in Paris looked completely retarded.

Yeah, but at least "Werewolf in Paris" was back in the 90s:

But they should have used the werewolves from Underworld.

I think they did a decent job on it at the time. They actually WROTE the hair system for that movie, so it was pretty much a first. The wolf models weren't that great though. It was one of the first films that Rick Baker's team did in CG vs makeup.

I thought the second half of Titanic was pretty good though. If they would have started it with the boobs and drawing bit, and then just went to the ship sinking, it would have been good. They could have skipped the first half with the dinners and poker and the dancing.

"Titanic" had great special effects. I also thought the romance part of "Titanic" was a lot more interesting than "New Moon". And the last 30-40 minutes of "Titanic" with people trying to survive was exciting.

100% agreement here. They had to lay down the basis of the story, but it didn't have to take that long.

Exciting and quite sad. I admit, the film did bring quite a few tears. That music by Celine Dion just brought it them out of me...........LOL!!!!! Shoot, I am crying right now just thinking about that song.:eek::eek:

I just don't think we should even mention this "New Moon" crap in the same sentence as "Titanic".

Titanic had James Cameron + Celine Dion music + so much more than "New Moon" or "Twilight" could ever offer.:D

How was Dakota Fanning? I know she's still a kid, but she looks hot as a vampire in the trailer. Maybe it's the crazy red eyes.

So true, but I am still crying. Celine's voice just does that to me.:eek::eek: What an awesome voice though. ;):);)

I saw this last night with a friend.

At first, I laughed at the Twilight series. I laughed at all the stupid girls screaming over it, and thought nothing of it's story, books, or anyone involved. Then, curiosity got the better of me, and I had to see what all the fuss was about. After watching the first, I realized, the screaming fans were ruining what was a halfway decent story. I never read the books, and don't plan on it (author is a nut) but I do look forward to seeing the rest of the films.

My gripes with this film, and the first, is Bella. The way she acts, is so rough, choppy, unrealistic, and not easily swallowed. Every time she does her shudder, and studder, I cringe. If she was played by an actress with some talent, these movies would be far better.

Although Jacob has "grown" up, I still can't match his image, with his voice. He still sounds like a 16 year old piss head. Also, he seems to struggle with his lines, and his emotion is not conveyed convincingly.

Aside from the above, and the cheese lines, I really did enjoy this movie. I don't understand why people are complaining about the CGI. This movie cost 50M to make. The CGI is better IMO then underworld, where it looked like claymation. It was a little soft, not superbly detailed like LOTR or Transformers, but that isn't the main draw for this movie, nor is it the statement it's trying to make. I'm not saying it's statement is valid or even remotely decent, it's just not CGI.

Oh, Dakota Fanning was surprisingly good. And by good, I mean not annoying.

I'm in line for the firing squad ... wife tried to get us to watch the first weekend, but the lines were too long (i fell in line but by the time i got close, all the seats were taken) we're watching tomorrow.

here's my summary of twilight part 1.

guy vampire: "stay away from me"
guy vampire makes sure to cross paths with girl
guy vampire: "i said stay away from me"
guy vampire makes sure to cross paths with girl AGAIN

serously, a prettier and handsomer couple could have been used.
