Sorry if this has already been posted but it is pretty big news in the subwoofer world and bears repeating.

AV123 has hired Mark Seaton to design a new super sub to add to their line. They are tentatively calling it the BMF (yes, what you're thinking is correct:D ). Mark will also be offering a new sub (RBMF?) that should do very well against the best commercial subs. Lots of info on the AV123 and AVS sites.

Mark is a member here and will likely chime in with the details.

The dual ported one is Ginormous @ 29W X 50H X 29D........but I think I could get it to fit under my screen.;) Might make a good homecoming gift from the wife.;)

I have been following the threads over at AV123 and AVS and I do not think either of those subs are dual ported. If I remember correctly the BMF offered through AV123 is tentatively going to be a single 15" with dual 18" passive radiators and the other sub is going to be dual 15" in a sealed enclosure. Mark says that the BMF will have higher output in the 16-30hz but the sealed will have higher output from the teens down to the single digits. The BMF is also going to match the look of the AV123 Rocket speakers.

Also BMF is not Big MF, it's taken from Pulp Fiction. Near the end of the movie Pumpkin: Which one is your wallet?
Jules: It's the one that says Bad MFer.

With the numerous choices of subs from retail brands, ID companies, DIY and these new Mark Seaton designed subs, its definately a good time to be a bass freak.

The "BMF" is a active 15" with 3 passive 18" drivers according to the AV123 thread. Seaton's sub for his own company are two sealed 15" drivers (also according to the AV123 thread).

It's a matter of semantics, but technically I've been contracted to design and help with some low frequency projects for AV123. I'm still doing my own things that are more focused at dedicated rooms and custom install, as well as some other contract design outside of the consumer world.

Correct. Sean has assembled a more concise (4 page) collection of relevant posts from that 20 page thread in the Announcements section.

You are correct, what I meant to say was dual sub, single 10" port.:D

I should have been clearer in my post. I meant to say neither is going to be a dual driver, ported sub. If you read through the threads over at av123, neither of the BMF or Seaton's other sub are going to be ported. One is sealed and the other uses passive radiators.
