i'm new to the forum, this is my first post. i don't know alot about a/v equiptment --but i want to learn and it looks like there are alot of smart people here.

my wife and i had a house fire last year and during the course of the rebuild we had a local audio/video company install our home theater. my equiptment is as follows:

panasonic tcp65vt25 television
denon dbp2010ci dvd player
denon avr4310ci receiver
mx5000 remote control
jl audio fathom f112 subwoofer
b&w 817 ceiling speakers
b&w 7nt wall speakers

i like the system, but i'm really lost as far as how to use it properly. i just wanted to introduce myself and maybe i'll learn a few things here. thanks

This is a good place to learn. Welcome and stop by often. I had a similar experience about 7 years ago, not a fire, but a lightning strike/1 million volt surge that toasted all of the electronics in the house that were turned on, including a great, vintage analog/vinyl sound system. I guess it's an "opportunity", not a disaster.

The right place

Welcome.
You are definitely in the right place. I'm new here myself and everyone seems eager to help. I've asked simple questions and no one has made me feel like an idiot...LOL
Sorry to hear about the fire.

Another welcome.
You may want to start your education by reading the great info at the home page here, lots of interesting articles.
Don't forget though, like any other consumer market, audio is full of snake oil pitch men, voodoo, bs, urban legends, myths, etc.
If your setup allows stand alone speakers, may want to consider them instead of in wall speakers. The sub is a good one.:D

That looks like a very nice solid system there. Welcome to the board!

The only thing I am wondering is why they did not install a Blu-Ray player??!! A plain old DVD player doesn't make a lot of sense these days as nice as it might be. That's the first thing I would change.
