Hello all-

It is time to replace my low level Yamaha receiver that is 8 years old, and trying to pick the right model nowadays can be quite overwhelming.

I am looking for an upper level receiver that has the following criteria

7.1
HDMI upscaling to 1080
at least 3 hdmi inputs
ideally, an autocalibration or a somewhat "human level set up"---I am not an expert

Any thoughts on the Denon 3808, Onkyo 875, Sony 5300, Pioneer 94txh, etc

Overall, just looking for some guidance...Appreciate any assistance.

Before anyone else chimes in...

Budget, sources (Blu-Ray, cable/sat, CD, SACD, DVD-A, D-theater, VHS, etc.), listening environment and, of course SPEAKERS?

They are all very comparible. I don't think you will go wrong with any of them. You can get the Onkyo 875 for $730 @ eCost:

Personally, I would take the Denon 3808 for $980 from Dakmart:

Thank you all.

I am using PSB Alpha towers, center channel, and what will be back channels. . I am thinking of getting the s50 surrond or maybe additional image monitors for the surrounds. plan on buying a new sub as well (PSB 6i ?) --open to suggestions on these as awell

As for sources, I have a
PS#
XBox 360
Direct TV HD box

TV is the 2007 Sony Bravia 40 inch

I will use all HDMI cables, unless otherwise instructed (Might use optical for the 360 so I don't have to deal with all of the AV lag, but that is still up in the air...I can always recalbirate...

Budget is pretty open, but I obviously want to get the most for my money

I have the Pioneer Elite 94 and I think it's a fine receiver. I have a seperate amp, but I've had eveything hooked up to the internal amps and found it to be very robust even at wall shaking volumes.

The 94 has got some neat features like Home Media Gallery which lets you plug into your home network. You can access several hundred internet radio stations as well as any computer on your network and it can play most popular music files including FLAC.

It's a great receiver and I'd recomend it to anyone. There's some great deals on the 94 and the 92 (the model below). Both are very fine units.

Feel free to come with any questions on it you may have. I'll do my best to answer.

The right one

This is always a very difficult question to answer especially when you have not given what speaker you are using. But based on previous your receiver i believe that what ever speakers you are using will not pose any serious problem to all the receiver that you intent to buy.All of the receivers are capable.I had the chance to use the Denon and Onkyo before deciding what to buy,Denon was my choice. It is quite complicated to set up but once you are done it shines.(for your info i,m not using either receiver) http://www.dakmart.com/itemdetails/31778/173/
