I've played 3 movies in my new Denon 2910 and it just broke. It powers on and then powers off right away.

Needless to say when I take it back tomorrow (Sunday) I'm not getting another 2910. I have a Pioneer receiver.

What would you guys recommend for a pretty decent DVD player in the $800 - $1000 price range? I don't want to spend too much with Blu Ray coming out next year.

I play 99% DVD movies but I would like good quality SACD and CDs too. An HDMI output is a must.

Suggestions?

Maybe it is a fluke that it broke so quickly if you had it connected correctly in all respects. Try a replacement again.

I agree. Every manufacturer of electronic or mechanical product will have some product failure, and there's no company exept from this. I'd suggest you have them replace it with a new one and try it for awhile.

But there's lots of good machines on the market that you could try.
