My name is Dustyn! I have been a lurker for a while and found a lot of great information. I am in the process of building a new HT in my living room and pool area. I would like some input on the components I have chosen and any other possible recommended options. The following is what I plan to buy!

Sony STR-DA1000ES 7-Channel 120 Watt HT Receiver
Note “I can’t find this on Sony’s web site??”

Sony ES DVP-NC555ES 5-Disc DVD/CD/SACD

4 Klipsch In Ceiling 8” 5800C

2 Klipsch In Wall 8” 5800W

1 Center Channel ????? Need Help

1 Klipsch Powered Subwoofer RSW 15

2 Klipsch Outdoor AW650

2 Klipsch Outdoor AW800 Subs

What do you think?

Are the Klipsch Outdoor Subs necessary? Will this unit have enough power to runn all of this?

Do I need anything else?

Thanks for your help, sorry so many questions.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about your receiver choice. I also take it you really like the Klipsch sound.

However, what is your overall budget, and what kind of constraints are there (look, cost, room size, etc)?

The wife only wants wall mount speakers. I have also thought about the Bose all in one speaker system?

Unless you're completely in love with the Klipsch sound, I think you owe it to yourself and your wallet to go shopping and listening first. There are MANY options for in-wall and on-wall speakers. Some brands that I've heard good things about:

Definitive Technology
Phase Technology
RBH Sound
Leon Speakers

And others I can't recall at the moment. As for subwoofers, I think you'll find a higher value in subwoofers from other companies like Hsu, SVS, Definitive Tech, and others. I'm not so sure on the outdoor subs though.

Here we go...

You might not really want to mention the "B" word in this forum. That can sometimes tend to get people a little passionate when they state their distaste. ;)

No

worries there. I just couldnt help myself.

The Klipsch system isn't a bad piece of kit, but like jax said, make sure you listen to them before you buy. There are a lot of people out there that find Klipsch speakers a bit too bright for pleasure. I used to own a full set of their reference line for my home theatre set up, but replaced them when I found a good deal on the Cantons that I have now.

At the end of the day the best thing you could really do is figure a max dollar amount that you are willing to spend and then go and have a listen to anything and everything that is close to that amount. Take a bunch of music that you are already familiar with and don't be afraid to listen to some systems that might go a couple hundred over what you first decided on.

Happy hunting...

Hello
The Klipsch 5800 In-wall / In-ceiling speakers are very dynamic.
I have installed that system in many homes for numerous picky videophiles and they liked the system when installed in the correct locations.
The RC-35 center channel is the mate for the 5800W/5800C speakers. You can use the RC-25 but don’t recommend it.

Lose the Sony receiver and look at receivers from Yamaha/Denon
They should have Zone 2 capability if you are planning on a second zone for outside.
One more thing Klipsch will shortly introduce a new Reference In-Ceiling speaker
And THX In-Wall’s are due out 1st quarter next year. Cats out of the bag now :p
Happy Listening
Ray
