I am in the process of selecting HTR equipment--Currently I have Krell 250 watt amps as stereo and one that is 200 watt for three zones. I am in need of a Pre-Amp for these or sell them and get a receiver that sounds as good as a krell. with about 300 watts. I am using Klipsch Belle's on the stereo end. The other idea I had was to keep the one 250 amp and sell the 200 watt unit. Buy a receiver and hook everything up to the two speakers. I also have 3 Heresy11 speakers to use for the surround sound. Can this be done?? Your thoughts???

Keep the Krells, and get an AV pre/pro. You won't find a receiver with amps anywhere close as good as the Krells, and certainly not as reliable.

while I agree with TLS Guy that krell amps are as top notch as it gets, I will say that if you can significantly raise your budget for front ::speakers:: then by all means flip the 200 watt one.

I agree that a denon 4311 or Marantz AV7005 are two very fine modern pre-pros.
