I am building a new ht system to be installed next week. Its for a 13'x14' 12' ceiling. I have a Onkyo 702,a Pioneer PDP-5060HD plasma and just bought some Polk Rti6, Csi5, Fxi5 and a SVS PB10-ISD sub. I was wondering if should use Rti8 instead of the Rti6. Bookshef + stands is almost the price of the Rti8s. I could easily exchange them.

Does the change will make a big difference?

As long as you have them, what are you waiting for. Hook them up and listen. If there is a distinct lack of bass, and I would think there would be, given that speaker and that space, you may want to opt for the 8's.

Personally, I really like the Rti6's and would not change my fronts to the Rti8's. If your room was considerably larger then that would be a different story. Also keep in mind that Rti8's need more power whereas the Rti6's would be a little easier load with respect to your receiver. Furthermore, you have the SVS sub to handle the lower bass frequencies and imho the Rti6's image better than the Rti8's-especially when mated with a sub as good as you have sound BETTER than just the Rti8's alone. The truth is what do "YOU" prefer. Give them a try and you might just be surprised. Good luck and God Bless.
