A couple weeks ago, I completed my first HT audio system with a RX-V661 receiver driving Klipsch quintet III's and a sub10. The room is small and private at approx 14x14' w/8' ceiling, and honestly I'm blown away with how great it sounds!
I still have a ways to go in learning what all the receiver is capable of doing, but I'm getting there. As a short-term goal, I'm already thinking about upgrading the fronts/center, not because I'm unhappy with the sound quality. More so just because I think I'd be better off with floorstanders. Chances are I'll be moving all into a slightly larger room once remodeling is done.
My question here is, how carried away can I get with this receiver, rated at 90w x 7? For example, I was looking at Klipsch's F3's (also versions of Paradigms and Axioms)that are rated at 150w max. Common sense tells me more power is better (within reason) but I'm unsure what any cutoff point might be. At this time I'd like to avoid buying another component, such a seperate amp, but have a feeling it's not neccessary.
