Hello. I am new to HT. I would like to build myself a multi-function room entertainment. I have many questions, but, I wanted to start simple and fun...

I am looking for speaker recommendations, and, if any, 8k laser projector recommendations (else I will opt for Samsung 8K screen). I'm contemplating B&O Labs 50 or 90, or WA Sabrina. Regardless of speaker choice, I would also consider adding a sub-woofer (although the B&O 90's might be enough?). I would also consider any other speaker recommendations.

The room itself is a reasonable size, approx. 150sqm, and it has three seating areas. Price range for the speakers is between $20,000 and $50,000. Anything above or below is ok as a recommendation - I look for value above all, although this is difficult without the ability to listen to systems A/B. So I thought I would write here to begin to learn and improve my search. Thank you :)

If you are looking for value, you definitely don't need to be spending anything near Beloab 50 or 90 money. Those are more like artworks than speakers, although they sound just fine (I have only heard the Beolab 90). A lot of what you pay for is the industrial design and build quality, but that doesn't have anything to do with audio performance. If you want a really killer speaker with outstanding industrial design, look at the Revel PerformaBe speakers are the Paradigm Persona series. The B&O speakers are more like experiments in the way they can be shifted to narrow dispersion to wide dispersion to omnipolar. They are really cool, but if you want just straight-up good sound, they aren't the highest value proposition. I really like the Beolab 90s, by the way, and I don't mean to be bashing them.

Stay away from the Wilson Speakers, they are not in the class of the Paradigm Personas or Revel PerformaBe. If you want to save some money and get a decent looking speaker capable of higher output and hi-quality, check out the JBL HDI-3800s. They don't have quite the build quality of the others, but its still pretty good.

If I were a sales guy, I would be salivating at your willingness to spend gobs of money.

There is ZERO chance you should get a Samsung TV over getting an OLED if you actually care about image quality. Likewise, 8K is about as stupid as it gets as there is not really a ratified 8K standard in existence. The support for HDMI 2.1 mostly centers around gaming, so I assume you are a major gaming fanatic who dearly can't wait for 120hz 4K gaming to hit the streets in the newest gaming consoles.

Otherwise, they are still filming sports at 720p. So, you know, 1/8th of 4K resolution.

If the room supports front projection, then the gold standard, which is very high, is the JVC series of projectors. They can deliver an image that will compete with LG and OLED displays at 135+ inches in diagonal with their RS1000 (NX5)/RS2000 (NX7)/RS3000 (NX9) lineup. Oh, and look at that... The NX9 supports 8K. That's pretty nifty.

Thank you, I do like the appearance of the PerformaBe. I will do some further research on these and put them in the pool of options.

I'm not sold to the B&O or any other brand, I just don't know many, so I'm trying to broaden my own market knowledge. I do like the appearance of horn speakers, although there seems to be more complexity in setting up the system, so I will tread carefully there.

I have two Smasung 8K at 120hz (medium size, can't recall the ") and the image quality appears a step up from the 4K screens, even if it is just crisper/up-sampled. I'm not a gamer, I enjoy music, so 2.0 should be sufficient for this. I remember when I was a lot younger though, my parents had a sub-woofer that made watching movies more entertaining; so if the speaker setup I go for is bass-light, then I would be open to include a woofer.

Thank you for the projector recommendation, it sounds like the NX9 uses a form of interlacing, but, being laser, this should be more than sufficient. I will try to source somewhere that I can demo a unit, I am very curious about this. I have not used a projector in over a decade, and I have never used laser - only seen them advertised, so I am quite excited to see this technology's progression.

The truth is, I will seldom use the full setup, it is for friends and family, as I will be entertaining more often. My life is on planes and pacing cities on calls. My enjoyment will largely come from having a nice looking setup and the 2.0 speakers for when I do sit at home and work. Otherwise, the whole system will be used by friends and family.

I would look at the B&W 800 D3's. You could also look at the KEF Blades. RBH SVTR's is another great speaker. Then go get yourself some separates from McIntosh, Krell, ATI, Classe..etc.

Regarding your 8K laser, currently there are no 8k laser projectors and if there was, it would be well over $100k to own it. The JVC NX9 is currently the only projector on the consumer market that has 8k capabilities.

Wow, in that case, such a projector is out my budget, thanks for heads up. I will look at the JVC recommendations.

Also, thank you kindly for the speaker recommendations. I will review each this evening and come back with thoughts/questions.

I'd also recommend that you check out some Salk speakers. Since aesthetics seems to be very important to you. In addition to having fantastic sound quality, you have the ability to choose any wood veneer and dye colors that you might like.

Just don't plant lips on steviemazer's butt...it won't taste like meatballs ;)
When I said “guys on here”, I actually meant him, as well as you and quite a few others. Steve helped me and always seems to be helping people on the beginner forum (definitely don’t taste meatballs). I did definitely kiss James ass there a little bit though.
