Hi All,

I’m currently thinking of adding a home theatre system (AV receiver and 5.1 speaker set) to the existing living room and below is the layout of the room. Hiding the speaker wires is the main request from my wife and what got me concerned about my layout is the outside wall (possible insulation/fireblock) for the future rear speakers and the front wall is behind the washer/dryer room (possible water pipes). I have a crawlspace below this living room and wondering if this is the ultimate solution to hide the speaker wire by fishing the wire down the crawlspace for both front and rear speakers.

I'm assuming that some of you have done this before and It would be nice if you can share the experience like challenges/success stories while doing it.

Any concerns, suggestions or opinions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

What type of surrounds are you thinking of using?
Due to the limited size of the room I was thinking of buying either a def tech 800 or SVS sbs-01 system. In-wall speakers will look good but im not sure if I can get a good 5.1 system for my budget ($1,200).

Most of my wire is either hidden under carpet, or tucked under the baseboards. If you have a crawl space, that'll work well too.

Either way, you shouldnt have much trouble hiding your wires.

Do you use the fire place ? if not it's good if you put the tv there so your wife can watch while cooking. Cheers.

You'll fish the wire up the crawlspace from below. Sounds like you have wood construction so it should not be a problem, pipes or no pipes... You'll likely see exactly where they are from below.

They didn't give you wall for your family room?!
Have you considered getting a refund for those missing walls?
