New Home Theatre Potential Setup

Hello All,

I am currently in the process of going about planning the next few years for my home theatre setup. It is going to be that long of a process since higher end equipment is so expensive... anyways...

I currently have a VSX-45 AVR.
On black friday I got my first piece of my speaker setup, its the Polk CS2 Series II center channel. $80 free shipping... I couldn't have clicked buy fast enough.

I have 4 other garbage speakers for FR,FL,SR,SL from an old 'Home theatre in a box' setup. I am planning on getting 2 x Polk Monitor 70 Series II for FR,FL this year, and 2 more the year after that for SR/SL. I know that my receiver is fairly low-ish powered and am wondering if it is 'safe' to power the Monitor 70's with the VSX-45.

After I get the 5.0 speakers I plan on getting the Polk PSW505, which is powered, so no extra draw.

Once I have the 5.1 speaker setup I am going to upgrade my AVR to an AVR(undecided since it is about ~2 years away) with Pre-Outs and get a killer amp, like an Emotiva XPA-5(or equivalent a few years from now).

My main question is will my VSX-45 power 4x Monitor 70 Series II + 1x CS2 Series II safely in the meantime before i spend ~$1800+ on AVR+Amp.

If anyone actually reads and responds to this long post thanks!

That receiver will be fine to power those speakers, no worries there.

I would however exercise caution in using the "garbage" home theater in a box speakers with the receiver. They often present difficult loads for standard home theater receivers.

Ohhh.. Interesting.. I didn't really think about that too much when I set this up.

I had a Philips HTS3544(I would post the url, but the site will not let me since I am so new). The Speaker Specs are on page 49.

This is the only spec from that manual for the 4 speakers I am currently using.
FRONT AND REAR SPEAKERS System: Full range satellite Impedance: 6 Ω Speaker drivers: 3” full range speaker Frequency response: 150 Hz – 20 kHz Dimensions: 95.5 x 198.3 x 75 (mm) (w x h x d) Weight: 0.62 kg/each
Any thoughts? I can't really gauge to much information from that spec sheet.
