Hi we are constructing/building a new Home in Austin,Texas
we done with design center and home is constructing now.
we selected pre wiring for speakers in Family room and media room.
now my question is, How difficult is to install In-Wall speakers our self? or
how much will I need to pay if I go out side private vendor to install in wall speakers?
if I want to go with my builder, builder is going to charge installation fee and extra (fine 300$) to install them now.
since this is our first home,we do not have an idea how to do this stuff.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Thanks

Sorry...I'm a little late getting to the party on this one. What kind of in-wall speakers? Are they designed for in-wall installation? If not, then I wouldn't do it. Even if they are, it's typically not a task that you want to take on yourself. There are many variables that come into play to ensure that you don't turn the wall and the ceiling into a big, resonant chamber...it's not an intuitive job by any means.

Four years ago, I had my speakers installed after-build and paid $75/pr. You should ask this of local specilty shops for a better idea of the costs. I would also suggest, if you can, make visits to the site as often as possible to take pictures and measurements to chronicle the build and important information you may want after the drywall goes up.
