I stopped by the new HHGregg megastore today on the southeast side of Columbus. I noticed in the audio section the new Harman Kardon receivers. Although they don't have them listed on the HK website, they are in stores right now. Pricey SOB's. ;) J&R lists them at $349 - AVR140; $399 - AVR240; and $599 - AVR340.

They look identical to the previous models. JR has all three models. The 440/640 and 7400 are not out...yet.

Are you sure you don't work for J&R? :D
They should kick me some commissions, eh? ;) They are the only place to buy digital camera's and audio equipment (if they have the brand you are looking for).

They'll match just about anyone on the net if they are legit. A1 customer service, free shipping if you ask, and are an authorized dealer.

I also like Ubid, Cheapstingybargains, and Macmall for rock bottom deals - especially "B" stock.

Hey, if this is going to be the best site for A/V info, why not be the place to find out who has the best deals, too? (Also check the ads to the right for specials ;) )

Didn't look at all of them, but it looks like the 240 model adds ipod capability and that's it, plus it's 6lbs. lighter.

No complaints about those guys. They're definitely good. www.cameraworld.com sometimes has great deals on digital cameras, and they also have good customer service. Occasionally they have some deals on DVD players and stuff, but not so much A/V stuff.

I'm wondering if the price hike on the receiver is only because of the ipod compatibility? Shesh, that's expensive. That seems to be the only difference between the new model and the old model. There must be something else, newer firmware, fixing small problems.. anyone know anything?

I'm curious about ipod compatability too. What exactly does that mean? You can already use a 1/8" mini plug to 2 rca adapter cable and hook the ipod up to any receiver, so what does this feature add?

Onkyo has a new docking station for the ipod too. I can guess what it adds. My guess is that the dock can be connected with their RI (Remote Interactive) cable so that the receiver can relay remote control commands to it in the same way that it does for dvd players. While I do use RI with my receiver and dvd player, that is hardly something I would consider a major new feature. I wonder if H/K has something similar up their sleeve.
