Beginner 1960 welcome to the forum. Most speakers are rated at a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. You can mix speakers ohms, but you need to undestand that a 4 ohm speaker uses twice the current ( amperage) and twice the power that an 8 ohm speaker does. In order to use a lower impedance speaker ( 4 ohm or 6 ohm) you need a high current receiver or AVR ( audio video receiver). The RX-663 can handle high current and will support 4 ohm, 6 ohm or 8 ohm front speakers.

For $429 I would recommend the SVS PB10-NSD http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-10nsd.cfm
This will work for a small to medium sized room.

Good Luck!
