A real quick introduction. My name is Marc from Waxhaw, NC and I am really happy to have found a forum to help answer some of my questions. I am a bit new to home theater and have some generalized questions. Any guidance you all could give me would be most helpful.

So, my set up is this. I have 2x Klipsch R-625FA floor standing speakers. On the back of these units, there are spots for two speaker wire inputs. Currently, based on another forum, I just tied in to the bottom set based on what I have read from help from Klipsch people. However, I am powering them through a Yamaha TSR 700 7.1 receiver. Given that it is 7.1 and I am only using 5.1 channels, does it make sense to tie in those extra outputs to the top half? Or is there a splice cable of sorts that powers both halves?

I know its not rocket science, but it is science. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The power supply is shared between all the amp channels so its usually easier(and safer) and runs cooler without doing that. You wont gain anything by doing it in almost all cases with an AVR.
(Its called passive bi-amping)

Sounds good. Thank you.
Just to be clear, the top and bottom posts on the speakers are usually tied together at the factory, often by a gold plated plate or sometimes a cable. To bi-amp a speaker, the plate or cable has to be removed to separate the upper and lower posts. Connecting a second set of speaker wires with the plate installed will damage the AVR/amp. As mentioned by Leemix, there is typically little to be gained in bi-amping speakers when using an AVR. You'll be fine with the one connection.
