2 RCA SP3300BS bookshelf's (surrounds
1 Polk Audio PSW125 Sub

Ya i know its nothing special but i think i got it for like $100-120 when circuit city went out of business.
I thought i had a grasp on the home audio stuff until i started looking for a reciever. Just found out i didnt know jack.

Don't worry, that was most of us when we signed up, me included.

Get a bluray player already. Your Sony is begging you for it. Oh, so is your sound system. Here is a solid player for a reasonable $127.

All of above begging to be upgraded, especially the fronts - To really enjoy movies - all front speakers must be timbre matched (aka Same make and series) and for multi-channel music ideally - exactly same.
Set your budget, start saving and set realistic goals. Some components could be upgraded gradually. Just don't rush and try to get everything at the same time, while sacrificing on quality.

I started about 10 years ago and trust me - my first system was nothing to write home about

funny thing is until just sunday i wasn't even really considering a blue-ray though that may have had something to do with my old Kenwood VR-307 reciever i had that wouldn't decode much of anything. now that i have a reciever that works a blue ray is suddenly looking like my next must have unit.


Well for what i have into it my electronics im pretty happy. i got everything for around $2600. Xbox 360 was a gift. And considering my TV's retail was like $2400 i think thats doing alright. But now i know there is actually a difference in electronics so im excited to learn more and get this set up properly one piece at time

oh and i have a chepo logitech harmony 550 remote
