Hey all.

I was told about these forums from a guy that works at my local Best Buy (sorry are those bads words around here ).

I have a question I need answered quickly or Ill loose out. Right now I have 2 Def Tech BP 10's for my main speakers.I have a chance to buy 2 Energy Audissey 2+2's and a AC 300 for 350.00. I want to buy these and make them my front sound stage and make the DT's my rears.Sonically will these speakers sound similar? It seems like the Energy's are copies of the DT's or vice versa.

Any input would be appreciated.I need to know by tomorrow morning or he'll sell them to another guy who wants them.

Those Energy's are old school. Never heard them, but they are of the same design. I personally don't touch DT because they lie about their specs.

If you can listen to both, choose which one fits the bill best. The DT will be new though, so they will have a warranty and most likely be returnable.

Don't let acudeftechguy read that... those are fighting words to him!
That's okay. As long as Sheep doesn't hate me, that's cool.:D

Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

I wish Def Tech would only list the +/-3dB Freq. Resp. as well.
The OVERALL Freq. Resp. is kind of useless and misleading.

But specs aren't everything anyway. If the speakers sound amazing and outstanding, then they are amazing and outstanding regardless of specs.

Shoot, let him sell those old Engergy speakers to someone else!:D

If I were you, I would just get 2 more BP10s for my Surrounds and get a CLR3000 or another BP10 for my Center.

The plus side for DT is they are new. You never know what the Energy's will be like, and they are not returnable.

Good things come to those who wait, right?:D

I would not rush into anything, especially into pressure sell tactics ---> "you have to decide right or I'm selling it to someone else"? Please!

No matter what you end up buying, just take your time and do it right.

If you love the sound of your current BP10s, then just build on that. If you don't love the sound of your BP10s, then audition other speakers in your room.

Getting 3 more BP10s brand new would cost you around $1,100. David Gaudreau on this forum might get you a better deal.

Anyway, I've personally listened to the BP10Bs in my room, and I think they sound great. A lot of people say the same thing, including Julian Hirsch (RIP) of Stereo Review. But you be the judge. Do you love the sound of your BP10?

Yup I love the BP10's.Even my family (wife a 2 kids) really enjoy watching movies with these speakers.Im going to shop around for maybe some 6's or 8's for my surrounds.BTW,the 10's I just got are used as well so I cant take them back nor do I have any return privilages.

If you and your family love the sound of the BP10s, then you can't go wrong there IMO. BP10s for fronts, CLR2000 or CLR3000 for Center, & BP8s or BP6s for Surrounds. Sounds like a great plan!

Man Id love to have a 2000,but they are very hard to find. The 3000's are just a little out of my price range.

How do you think a Pro Cinema 1000 would sound with the 10's?
