New guy needs recommendation, please!

Okay guys here's what I'm planning.....Axiom epic 50 500 7.1 w/ Yamaha RX-v1500 & the Yamaha dvd C 750!....the side and back corner sppeakers will be on stands! Should I pick anything else up or would you change anything....I'm looking for a good system with some WOW! Let me know what you think!

I think your choices for reciever and DVD/SACD/DVD-Audio/CD player are both good choices at their price points. I know nothing about those particular speakers, and therefore have nothing to say about them.

Dont know which receiver is better. I have the 3806 and like it, but it's a pain in the *ss to set up. However the receiver is not that importent in how you system will sound, it's really all about speakers. Here is what I suggest. Do as many speaker auditions as you possible can, then you will have a better idea of what sounds good to you. We can not do that part for you. However if you come back and tell us you have auditioned 12 speaker brands in your price range, and of them two sounded you really good to you, and that you have such and such room size, do more movies than music, then you can get some more usful advice from this forum. Also put at least sixty percent of you system budget towards speakers. Good luck
