Hello to all of you. I've been debating about joining, but after what I've seen and read, I wish I had JOINED a long time ago! Trying to keep this short, but I've owned the Bose Acoustimass 15s for 8 years. I've been the ridicule of many jokes, because of defending the bose system. Recently I ran across the Definitive Mythos 2s. They sounded really balanced and smooth compared to the Bose. I found the Mythos on Amazon for 199.00 each! Kinda scares me for a speaker that sells for 549.00 each. I bought 5 Mythos 2s and a Polk Micro 1000 sub. The whole speaker system comes to 1350.00! I hope we are in for a treat when I get these all hooked up? My receiver is the OLD Yamaha HTR-5280. Please, tell me that my old trusty Yamaha is up to the task. I'm trying to be in the same league with the rest of you Audioholics. I hope I'm on the right track. Thanks BOB

So will my old Yamaha be up to the task? I know it needs to be. It's been a great reciever thus far. But that was with the Bose system. I just noticed my ears are still ringing from listening to them this past weekend. Never thought, it might be because of the Bose 15s catching up with me.

Welcome to the forum... Yes your yamaha should be ok, but after hearing your new speakers you may want to upgrade your reciever so you can take advantage of the new HD audio codecs found on blu ray discs.

I appreciate the feed back(that was a pun). Just can't believe I could buy Definitive Mythos and the Polk Micro Sub for almost what I paid for the acoustimass system 8 years ago. I'm sure I'll have other questions, being it will not be just a Plug and Play system now. I suddenly feel liberated.

Welcome aboard, Son. Every upgrade is exciting but upgrading from Bose to the Mythos is going to be really dramatic.

Absolutely Mr. Dave!

And to the OP... WELCOME! Don't hesitate to ask questions... chances are someone here has had it, has it now, or knows about it.

Let us know when you get everything all hooked up and give us a report!

You would think so. But, I've gone into stores and have always looked, just in case something happens to this set. But I haven't yet seen anything that has beat the detail, brightness, sharpness and smoothness of this set. This is a Liquid Crystal on Display Rear Projection TV. I'm just sorry that they don't build them anymore.

That's good advice from Chunky. The range of gear that members of this site had, have or will have is astonishing.

Thanks Dave. I love music and movies like everyone. But it's just smart buying like the Mythos2s I just got from Amazon for 199.00 each and the Polk Micro 1000 on sale for 349.00 from Newegg, that allows me to be talking to you all on an even plane so to speak. If it wasn't for Amazon, I'd still be defending the Acoustimass 15s.

I still had a Bose system when I first started posting here. There's no real hierarchy here based on equipment level. What we really want to know is whether you're any good at playing Twister and/or whether you wear socks with your sandals.

I noticed there is no real hierarchy on this site. On Amazon, if you mention you just 'LIKE' Bose Speakers you'll get 10 replies in 10 seconds, of how crazy you are. But, I have to admit, it got me thinking. So I found this site, and I don't need to go anywhere else now for help, or to help someone else if I can. I can't wear sandals, my toes would get cold.
