Got his in an email blast from Parts Express. Is this the new MiniDSP for the masses?

After quick perusal, one thing immediately stands out: it appears you can only control one sub per unit and I found no information about managing multiple sub systems.

At $60 a pop, and no training with REW or OmniMic required... will this be a killer product?

After receiving two new, and defective, marantz sr6014's I am back to using my Yamaha RXV2500. It's PEQ only goes down to 63hz and my SVS PB12PLUS (bash amp version) has a one band PEQ that's adjusted with knobs so... I've been waiting for the new receivers to come out and this is inexpensive enough in the meantime to maybe play with...

The use of the singular "subwoofer" in the description is telling. Seems the better app is only with apple devices, too...without the iWoofer app you still need to measure it seems.

The unit closer to the usual miniDSP offerings I think would be their DSP-408, tho.

If you already have a MiniDSP 2x4 HD one of those could be an inexpensive way to add a third sub to the mix tho, no?

2x4 can handle output to 4 subs from 2 inputs, correct? Does it do 1-in, 4-out as well?
Considering it doesn’t seem to work in multiples, but mini DSP does, my instinct is to not mix them. Hard to say though without playing with them a bit.

It will do that, yes. I'm thinking if you have all 3 subs at different distances and locations and... damnit Ryan, stop making sense!

To be honest, the only 2x4 I’ve played with is... well... wood. *shrugs
I got the feeling though that you can control the four outputs independently which would make that a much more powerful tool.

Now, if Dayton had made it so you could control multiples of their little device... and if it were compatible with Omni Mic for ‘Pro’ level calibration....

Yes you can do 2x4 or 1x4....and it is compatible with the mic from the OmniMic kit

Just to keep things straight for others that may stumble on this:
The Mini DSP can be programmed using REW or the OmniMic software.
Rew can use any of a number of calibrated microphones, including the U-Mik1 and the OmniMic Microphone.
The Dayton device is not compatible with anything but a smartphone microphone for measurements. Any Android or iPhone for the free app, or specifically an iPhone for the iWoofer Pro functionality.
