I hate it when I find deals that are too hard to pass up and end up spending money that I had not planned on spending. Case and point

Today I stumbled upon a Denon X3300W at the local Fry's. I have been strongly considering upgrading my AVR lately and the X3300 was one of the models the models on my short list. So I ask a sales rep for the price, he tells me 999, but its on promo for 650. Real good deal, however it is missing its remote, brand new otherwise, still wrapped and everything. So I ask what he can do for me for the missing remote. He does something on his computer and then tells me $489, no sales tax. How do I not buy that?

Initial impressions, I am very satisfied. My Marantz slimline was under powered for my big living room. This plays a lot cleaner at higher volume, and subEQ was great to get my subs dialed in. Will be nice to have the 4k pass through and I may even get use from the second source audio. Now I just have to find an OEM remote for it.

Sounds like a SUPER DUPER deal to me. I also have been watching the X3300. Using an X3000 right now as we speak. However, it does NOT have Sub EQ HT nor is it HDCP 2.2 complaint. Other than that, it is a very capable AVR. Not in no hurry to upgrade just yet. Good luck on finding a remote. Maybe contact Denon and explain your situation to them. Who knows, they might be able to sell you one at a reasonable price. Might even want to check w/Acc4less and see if they may have one OR could get one for you. CONGRATS on the find!

Cheers,

Phil

That's a lot of receiver for the money. Onecall is also selling it through Walmart's site for around $700 right now.

Ordered a denon remote last night that was labeled as working with the x3200w, the x3100, and the x2000 (which is the remote code I used on my Galaxy S6 when I had to download remote control app to get through the initial setup last night). Anyways it was on ebay and coming directly from China for only $4.65.
I have everything set up now for total ease of use. (The Xbox one s really does simplify everything) the TV, xbox and cable remotes work for volume and basic features. Used the phone to run audyssey last night. All is well, crossing my fingers on this remote from china but if its no good, I'm only out 5 dollars.

$489 is an awesome deal for that avr even if you need to buy a remote. Which android app are you using?

Did U get the Audyssey calibration microphone? Also make sure about the factory warranty.

Just my $0.02... ;)

Yeah I got the Calibration mic... everything on the AVR was brand new, it just looked like someone pulled the remote out of the box, hell the batteries were still in there for the remote. So yeah factory warranty is normal, I can buy the extended warranty from Fry's, and I have a 30 day return window. (I'm pretty sure I'm going to hold onto it though.)

The app I used was AnyMote. I got it from the Google Play store for my Galaxy S6 which was an IR on top. I downloaded 2 other remote apps that did not work nearly as good. AnyMote was actually pretty handy, it was able to get me through the entire initial setup for the receiver, and got me through the Audyssey set up as well. Then I was able to go throguh set all of my speakers to small, change up my crossovers, etc etc... awesome stop gap till I get a good OEM.

I'll have to check that app out. I have an older Denon and at that time at least the Denon app sucked, so if needing something other than my Harmony or IR (for when I'm doing things in another room) I sometimes use AVR-Remote.

Actually I used AnyMote with the IR on my Galaxy S6... so it isn't using WLAN. I downloaded AVR-Remote, does it work ok? At the time I was looking for something to use with the IR as I had to get through the initial set up to get connected to my wifi.

I checked that out after your last post; didn't even know there was an IR alternative (nor was I really thinking it necessary for setup either....is the front panel impossible to use now?). Since I still have the Denon remote as well as a Harmony universal not likely to need it but good to know. The AVR-Remote works fine with my 4520 over my network.

Nothing worked on the front panel, I couldn't even adjust the volume with the dial. I had to run though the entire setup process before anything worked.

I just ordered an X3300 from Accessories4Less and waiting for shipping is driving me nuts. :( I heard about this Fry's promo and thought I might head over there but I can't find any promo codes or anything.

Exactly. The only Fry's ad I found was proclaiming "Only $999! Limited quantities! Only one per houshold". Is $999 not the MSRP? Sigh. What a deal!

Oh well. I'm fine with a refurb. I might buy an extended warranty on it because I don't trust Denon reliability to begin with but I want Audyssey and they are the only game in town.

Well, Denon's sister brand Marantz has Audyssey still as well :) Some credit cards automatically extend even refurb warranties by a year; mine did.

I guess I'm willing to wait awhile for them to go on sale. I imagine they dip in the $799 range when they do go on sale..

Yes but despite what their marketing department would like you to believe, Marantz models are practically identical inside except for the HDAM amps. I can't hear a difference.

Unfortunately I used my Amazon Store card and they don't offer an extended warranty. A 3 year warranty is only $50 so not a bad deal.
