also I have a reg DVD player and a HD receiver what is the best way to all this up my TV is a CRT sony KV 36XBR800 it does have a DMI

It does not look like there is one right now for the 3808. If there is one posted you can download it. The downloaded file will typically include an instruction text file.

Actually, the 3808 has integrated networking so you don't have to manually download the firware updates anymore. All you have to do is connect your receiver to a port on your router with a Cat-5 cable and then from the Manual Setup menu you can select the Firware Update option. The receiver will then check and automatically install any updates it finds. I ran an update on my 3808 last week and there 15 updates in total.

As for hooking up your components, I would suggest using the HDMI output to your TV, and if your DVD player has HDMI use it too. If it doesn't, then use a composite cable.

If you have DVI out on the player then yeah, why not? It should work if you get a DVI to HDMI cable.

I just did this a few days ago myself. Plug it into the network router that is set up to auto assign. Go into setting and update, it takes at least 30 minutes but probably closer to an hour. Presto you are done.
