I just moved to a new city and bought a condo. I don't quite know how I should set up my room. The room is about 19x14 with about 9ft ceiling.
I still need to buy a couch, but here are a few options I see.
1.) I have a TV stand and it can go in the back corner with my two floorstanding speakers and center angled out into the room. Doing this I'll have to angle the couch in the room and it might be awkward.
2.) Put the TV along the wall next to the door to the outside and place the couch perpendicular to the fireplace
3.) Put the TV on the mantle over the fireplace (non-functional) and design the room according to that, but then I don't know where I would put the center channel and it may be uncomfortable/hard to watch with the viewing angle.
4.)Other options?
What do you guys think? The TV is a 50" DLP, probably about 1-1.5ft deep and the mantle is like 1.6 feet deep and 5 feet high. I might be able to anchor it to that wall though. The wall behind the fireplace is concrete if that's important. I know the person who was living here before me had an LCD on the mantle. I was thinking about buying some brackets and hanging surrounds on the walls depending on where I decide to place the TV. I also have to consider were I will put my receiver and 360.
I'm racking my brain trying to figure out the best way to set things up.
Pics are attached. Here's a quick summary of what they are:
1. picture of the fireplace and area to the left of it where the TV could go, again wall that wall is concrete.
2. wall opposite the fireplace with an opening (6.5ft) to a small sun room (8x13ft)
3. side wall with door to the outside, left of the fireplace
4. wall right of fireplace with entryway and small door to dining room.
5. Mantle of fireplace with PC placed to give indication of depth. Seems to be of very solid construction.
