New CD or DVD player?

I have a few questions on the topic improving sound quality.

My new system is listed below and I love it but I have always had dedicated CD player and DVD player which is the reason I am seeking opinions. I now have the Toshiba HD-DVD which I also use for CD's. It is connected to the Denon 2807 via HDMI and sounds fine to me most of the time but there are some issues with the player that I do not like:

1. Noisy drawer on open and close.
2. Intermittent vibration sound coming from the drawer while playing discs. You can hear it in sound stage some times if you listen closely. Grrrrr….
3. One disk limit.

If I understand correctly using a digital connection vs. RCA, in this case the HDMI, I bypass the Toshiba DAC and use the Denon’s AD-1835 DAC?

To improve on sound quality, I would have to improve on the Denon DAC with a CD or DVD/CD player that has a superior DAC?

I would like to have the option to play DVD audio, and SACD would also be nice but is it compatible with my Denon’s HDMI 1.1?

Any suggestions on players or clarification on my questions

I just bought a Denon 1930 CI and I'm extremely happy with it. I think it will do everything you want, HDMI, SACD DVD Audio, 5.1 outputs, except play multiple disks. I have not had any issues with noise, although the tray is extremely flimsy. It's curious because the player is, otherwise, a quality unit. I know that the sound quality is supposed to be the same with any player using a digital connection, but this one sounds much better than my old Sony player connected with toslink. The sound with SACD disks is amazing. It's a shame that there isn't more support for that format.

CD playback

I have the $150 Oppo DV-970HD and recommend it. It does everything you ask including DVD-Audio and SACD playback over HDMI. It might even upscale regular DVDs better than your HD-DVD player.
