Alright, my BD player works but it's ANNOYING! It's slow as all hell. I don't know if this thread is made in haste because I don't know if this is the norm for BDs. The one I own is a panasonic dmp-b35. I bought it about 2.5 years ago, IIRC. It's so damn slow, I actually wind up just saying 'screw it' half the time and turn it off before the movie starts.
It's up to date with the latest f/w. I just checked again today to make sure.
We rarely watch movies, but when we do, we'd like for them to load ... you know.... sometime this millenium...
I have the apple tv for my music streaming and netflix (which we currently do not subscribe to). I don't have 3D and don't plan to. My receiver is a denon avr-587 and does not support hdmi audio and doesn't decode HD audio. It just has the standard dolby digital decoding (one day I'll replace this thing, too).
We have 720p TV. Might upgrade later this year to a 1080p/larger screen but not right now.
Bottom line: I'd just like a good BD player that loads up videos in a reasonable time (ie: not forever).
So:
- Are slow boot times the norm? I would have figured that would be something that's been wrangled down now that nearly 3 years have passed since my purchase.
- If my panny unit is out of date (ie: other newer units load faster) what are my options?
I know the oppos are always highly regarded but $500 for a BD player seems a bit unecessary for me.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
