So I have been a self-proclaimed audiophyle for many decades but for the last 10 years have moved around a bit and have suffered with "portable" audio!
I recently purchased a home with an unfinished basement and am almost done with a complete remodel! (Audio/video room is 15 X 30 and I have purchased an Elite projection screen 100 X 90) Over the years I have saved my B&W 9NT front speakers, my B&W CDM 65 ceiling speakers (rear channels), my NAD 752 receiver as well as a Rotel 5 channel amplifier (100 w/channel). Along the way I picked up an Onkyo receiver (I think it is a TX SR508) which has HDMI (1.3a) and recently an Epson HD LCD projector (it was a gift from a friend moving to Europe!). Three questions:
1. What should I do for a center channel?? I have a Monitor center channel that I picked up also while in an apartment but it doesn't do justice to the B&Ws. Should I try to find a used B&W center channel or will one of the current center speakers match well with my 9-NTs??
2. Should I consider buying a receiver or a pre-amp or should I use my NAD as a pre? The NAD does not have HDMI for my projector but I was thinking about an Oppo 103 or 105. If I do that I can run the HDMI video thru the Oppo and the audio thru my NAD.
3. I have never bi-amped my 9-NTs and don't know what to think about the "bi-amp" controversy. If I did want to bi-amp I would need a 7.1 with pre-outs. Denon 3313CI is down to $800 (new) and I have looked at the Emotiva UMC-200. Not sure that this will give me more than I would get out of #2 above! What do you all think?
