New and need a little advice...

I am finally starting to look at upgrading my sound equipment and I thought this would be a good place to ask for advice.
I currenty own some low end equipment (Pioneer receiver and Cerwin Vega Re38's) and I'm looking at getting something a little more "high end".
I plan on starting with a receiver. I have it narrowed down to the Marantz SR7500 and the Denon AVR-3805. I will be using this receiver for 85% music and 15% HT. As of right now I'll be using it to run the two Cerwin Vega's and later this spring I will be possibly be purchasing some Axiom M60's. If I go this direction, I will eventually complete my HT setup with two Q8's, one VP150, and either a EP500 or VTF-2.
I'm new HT so I have no clue what a lot of it means. I know Denon and Marantz are both quality products, but I don't know what features I need in a receiver. The Denon has Dolby Digital EX Decoding, DTS ES Discrete 6.1 Decoding, ES Matrix Decoding, DTS Neo Modes, HDCD Decoding, and a handful of other features that the Marantz is lacking.I really want the Marantz because I have heard so much about how good the quality is for music, but I worry about the lack of features for HT. It may no be lacking anything, I have no idea, it just seems like the Denon has so much more under the list of features... very confusing. Can anyone clear this up for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In general, the Denon is going to have a few more features. Most of those are DSP modes and IMO are useless. If you are going to watch a movie, you are going to watch it in dolby, or DTS or whatever, and you arent going to use those. As far as the sound goes, the Marantz is going to have a little more power. But they will sound very similar. One thing the Denon has is a parametric eq, which is helpful for you to taylor the sound to your liking, and help correct for minor problems in your room.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll go with my gut feeling and get the Marantz.

That's always the best decision.;)

How much is it going to cost?

I believe it's around 716.00 shipped. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

One other question... will the Marantz run my Cerwin Vega's? They're 4ohm's. I 've heard only Denon and HK and a few higher end brands will run 4ohm speakers.
I'm just going to be running these two speakers until I get my M60's in the spring. Will it be a problem?

A little info:

15" / 3-way
27 Hz - 20 kHz
5 watts minimum
400 watts maximum
102 dB [ 1w / 1m ]
4 ohms
