New AMD Alchemy Au1200 Processor Promises Better PVP Products

For the most part, portable video display (PVP) products have been somewhat unimpressive (aside form the massive LCD transition that occurred), sporting QVGA resolution (320 x 240) and lacking any ability to handle direct transfer of video from other sources without an intermediary PC interface. AMD recently started announcing its new Alchemy Au1200 processor that will appear in portable video products this year, changing the way many of these devices work and expanding their usability and feature set (better video scaling, higher resolution support and direct transfer of files from DVRs for a true portable solution.) GoVideo appears to be one of the early adopters of this new processor and it looks as if they are on the quick path to providing some updated new products to market in the second quarter.
