I get this call from Chase payment systems. They have a client with a few sites and are researching solutions for them.
The kicker is that this guy from Chase is only going to tell the customer about solutions that use Chase. In my market there are only about 12/13 serious players in our space and I know who most of them use (Mercury, Global, Netbeans, PPI Inc, etc...). So there may not even be one that USES Chase. He doesn't seem to think this is at all a possibility
So I ask this guy: You are going to withhold solutions that don't use Chase payment_tech? Yeppers. And then he's like 'Why don't you support our gateway?' I shot right back at him: Why don't you support our API? He knew that his answer was going to be my answer: We can't support every single application that comes along, the code would be horrendous. EXACTLY.
So lesson to all you out there: Never ask your current merchant services provider to research billing solutions for you. You aren't going to hear about 90% of the possibilities out there. They will 100% compromise you.
I can't believe companies are dumb enough that they can't have someone google for software solutions for their industry.
