Networking Features on Receivers

I recently got an iPad and Android tablet which have a lot of my music on them. What I'd like is a way to stream music from the tablets to a receiver via WiFi, Bluetooth, or whatever. I'm not too familiar with all the networking options available these days on receivers. I generally prefer receivers that use Audyssey MultEQ like the Onkyo 708 (mostly because of Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume, and LFE channel EQ'ing), but I didn't see BT capability for the 708. I see the Pioneer 1020 and Yamaha 667 are BT capable. Any ideas on how to get the music to stream from a tablet to receiver and what receiver will do it? I'm looking for something in the $400-$600 range.

Why not let the receiver pull from your network instead of pushing from the iPad? That's how I'd do it because IMO BT just isn't all that snazzy for anything but voice. But if it's a must then Amazon carries some universal adapters of unknown quality.

Can a receiver pull from something like an iPad even if the iPad's in standby mode?

the answer is yes - you can make it work. What you need is DLNA server like this one:
http://www.bianor.com/ims/
Available both for ipoop and android platforms..
I see higher success rate with Android, but since there is a free version - not going to hurt to try both
This should work with you existing 708 since it's also dlna compatible.

Marantz's en Denon's new Airplay feature / upgrade allow you to stream from an iPad / iPhone / iTunes without an issue. I'm installing this update as we speak. I'll come back soon to review.

I saw that, but it looks like it starts on the 991 and up which is a bit more than I want to spend. Thanks for the suggestion.

So I'm guessing I install the app on my iPad and then point something like the Onkyo 708 to my iPad? That sounds like what I need.

I'm kind of curious why you don't go with a NAS box instead of the iPad unless you're locked into iTunes. For $120 plus the cost of drives you have an always ready solution with a couple of terabytes of storage.

Or better yet plug a networked media player (preferably with a hard drive) into your existing receiver. This would be a lot cheaper.

The iPad was given to me by my employer so didn't have a choice really.

Doesn't look like it'll work with the iPad :( I downloaded it and then checked their site and it doesn't show support for music files.

Nevermind. I found a couple of other DLNA apps. Thanks for the help!

Care to share? I'm wondering what other options are available other than iMediaShare from Bianor.

Also, slightly off topic, but does anyone know of an Android app that can simply be used as a remote for the Onkyo 708/808 while the receiver is streaming music from a PC?

Simply looking for the ability to stop/start/skip tracks and control volume from my phone. Would also be nice to be able to use the phone to scroll through a list of available songs that could be streamed from the PC to the receiver.
