Nero Digital MPEG-4 Compression Announced with AAC Audio Encoding

Nero Digital announced a next generation in MPEG-4 compatible compression technology – with premium quality video coding algorithms and full High Efficiency AAC audio. It is the result of extensive co-development between Ahead Software and Ateme of France, one of the World leaders in video and signal processing. Both the video and audio encoders will be available for download soon. There are some excellent features and advantages to MPEG-4 (and Nero Digital's implementation as well) that make for some impressive figures - like getting "CD quality stereo" at 48 Kb/s, or 33 hours of high quality music on one CD.

Interesting technology. I've searched but cannot find a release date for this software. Does anyone have that info?

Its more of a codec and integration into other software and hardware from what I can gather. I'll try to find out how soon stuff will start appearing with it.
