Nero Burning Problem: distortion

Hello All:

I know that this is mainly a hardware forum but if someone could help me with this particular software burning problem I would be grateful.

Through trial and error, I've found out that Nero has been the culprit in my experiencing distortion in some tracks with very high notes when I would burn to an audio disc. This would happen because I chose to check "normalize", and it doesn't look like there is anything that I can do with Nero to help eliminate this problem unless I choose not to "normalize" the burn. But, that is the feature I'm wanting.

Could someone tell me of a burn programme - freeware- that I could use that has an "equalizing" feature, for lack of a better term, (like Nero's "normalizing" burn option) that when I'm compiling a list from different albums/artists to burn to a single disc it will equalize them?

I know that there are probably several out there but if someone with experience in wanting the same option as I and discovering it could help out that would be great.

Thank you,

Praxis

Praxis,

I think that I may have mentioned this option before - try iTunes. Works great. If you are talking about having the songs play back at the same volume level, iTunes has a features called "Sound Check" that will do that for you.
