The Canadian trio has been together for over 30 years, and continues to have a dedicated following. Two recent DVD releases are sure to please the long time fan, with both old and new material to choose from. Ask any Rush fan – the highlight of a live performance by the band has always been drummer Neil Peart’s solo. Now for those of you who may not be familiar with Peart, he is widely regarded as the best rock drummer alive. In fact, many consider him one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock & roll. His drum solos are a very musical experience that covers many genres and will leave you amazed.

Great drum video. I've always thought of Peart as the best rock drummer technically; it's amazing some of the things he can do. I can do some pretty difficult & creative rhythms (many of which stem from listening to Peart over the last couple decades), but I literally can't imagine being able to do some of the things he does. It's not just being in shape and being fast, but the shear complexity of some parts of his solos. I also blame him for selling me on the idea of how you can never have enough pieces in your kit!

Now I need to buy "drum solo". I haven't because I thougt I wouldn't get repetitive use.

For me he is the best rock and roll drummer of all time and for as technical as he is he is far more musical. I can't imagine playing alot of what he plays either! :D

I have to disagree with the reviewer's assessment of Rush's R30 DVD. At least the R30 DVD I saw. It sounded terrible and the video was acceptable but far from anything worth purchasing. I hope it was just the version I watched and there is a new mastered release that I am unaware of. I still remember the 2112 concert I went to as a kid and love to augment my collection of this top rock group any chance I get.

I have not reviewed the R30 set, but I was pointing out that it was shot in widescreen HD and has a 5.1 soundtrack. But thanks for the input.

It depends on what part you are focusing on. Alex was fantastic throughout the whole DVD. Neil was good as always. Getty played well, but his voice was on holiday. It kinda makes the whole thing come tumbling down for me. But musically it was very good.

Bought this disc on Clint's recommendation and it is as advertised, GREAT! To this date the most money i've spent on a single dvd, but worth every penny.
